At Tape Innovations, we are waterjet cutting pioneers. Our deep knowledge and expertise in this precision process is vital when customers come to us with specialized, unique projects.
Waterjet cutting, also sometimes referred to as hydrocutting, uses a high-pressure waterjet and an abrasive surface to cut materials like metals, plastics and foams. Our waterjet uses a hair-thin pure stream for soft materials and a garnet abrasive to cut virtually any hard object. The process is particularly effective with small, intricate and complex parts.
It’s also ideal for thicker materials, like a thick foam, that may see edge concavity with die cutting. It works well for prototypes, thick materials, larger parts, heat-resistant materials like silicone and complex design. It produces a smooth, sandblasted look and is considered to have a “finished cut,” which means no finishing costs.
In addition, waterjets are the most environmentally friendly way to get the job done, and it’s safer for us on the shop floor as well, because water reduces the dangers associated with heat during the process.
Benefits of Waterjet Cutting
Waterjet Cutting Tools
Our state-of-the-art, precision waterjet cutting machines enable us to accomplish complicated cuts on unusual raw materials, allowing us to serve a bigger customer base.
Waterjet cutting is ideal for thicker materials that would often see edge concavity with die cutting, like thick foams. The powerful cut made by the waterjet leaves a clean precise edge on the material.
Waterjet cutting works well for:
- Thick materials
- Larger parts
- Heat-resistant material like silicone
- Complex designs that require very tight tolerances
Our engineers have high levels of experience with CAD software and various CAD cutting capabilities. We can work with the files you provide (.dxf or xdwg) or we can create one for you.
